HELICOPTER PILOT
PROGRAM

Description

For Helicopter Pilot training, Aerocentro offers two basic Pilot Courses:

  1. Private Pilot: This course is designed for the student who wishes to learn to fly but does not want to become a Commercial Pilot and make aviation his career.
  2. Commercial Pilot: This course is designed for the student who wishes to make a career in aviation as a Pilot.

The flight training of both courses is provided in well equipped Schweizer helicopters, model 300C.


All the courses given by aerocentro are certified and authorized by the Civil Aeronautics of Colombia, in accordance to the procedures and international regulations of the FAA and the ICAO.

Program Contents

Ground School

All de Ground School courses meet the requirements of the Civil Aeronautics authority and are dictated by very experienced professionals in well equiped classes rooms. Over and above the subjects that are mandatory in the Pilot Courses, Aerocentro provides other programs that enhance academic excellence.

The courses of ground school are:

  • CRM (Crew Resource Management)
  • Advanced Navigation (Radar, TCAS, GPWS, Loran, etc)
  • GPS (Satellite Navigation)
  • Aeronautical Geography
  • Jeppesen charts reading
  • English Aviation speaking

Courses shown in red must be taken before the start of the flight training.


Flight Training

The flight training required by the aeronautical authorities is 70 flight hours minimum, for Private Pilot category and 115 flight hours for Commercial Pilot category. Part of the flight training involves dual command time with certified and experienced instructors.

Great emphasis is placed on flight safety in all phases of training, both in the air and on the ground.
