Denomination

The Agreement between Aerocentro and CEA offers a simple training and research program at an undergraduate level, that contains the basic tools of Aeronautic Entities Management among its various applications, and which will be denominated: "Certificate in Aviation Management."


General Objective

The Certificate in Aviation Management, intends to offer the students various management practical tools, which will provide them with an aggregate value with respect to the understanding and general knowledge of the companies and entities of the industry. They will also be able to perform a better job as employees of specific areas, improving at the same time the profitability of the aviation companies where they work.

Specific Objectives:

The program expects to provide the students with a general knowledge of the aeronautic industry, as well as practical tools which will allow them to place their jobs according to their expectations and capabilities, by which they can optimize their performance as employees or executives of public and private entities and companies, through the following specific objectives:

  1. To know and apply the concepts and techniques of modern management to the various activities of the aeronautic industry.
  2. To act as leaders of the modernization and efficiency of the activities of the industry.
  3. To restructure and improve the productivity processes of the entities, and to assure optimal levels of quality with respect to service.
  4. To manage with impudence marketing processes of the aeronautical companies both in the passengers area as well as in the cargo area, and in specialized services.

Oriented to:

This program is oriented to all the personnel related to the industry: employees of airlines and cargo transportation companies, mechanical workshops, pilots, entrepreneurs, personnel of the Military Force and employees of various areas involved or interested in becoming involved with the aeronautic industry in Colombia and in the region.

According to multi-mode transportation principles, the Certificate is oriented to whomever is related or has a special interest in studying any type of transportation - in other words - fluvial, terrestrial (on wheels), by train and by plane focused in the linking the knowledge of aerial transportation with the other mentioned systems, and in that way to integrate the modern concept of gate to gate transportation.

Managerial activity which involves planning up to the evaluation of results, and feed-back for the decision making process, represents a very important area in the running of both national and international aviation companies, Armed Forces, Aerocivil and grantees in national airports.

Considering that the knowledge imparted has an applied orientation (theoretical- practical), the minimum required education is high school.


Methodology

The Course will have two main sections:

  1. Academic program with personal assistance required. Has an intensity of 120 hours divided in two modules with ten (10) theoretical assignments, five general and five specific of the aeronautical industry.
  2. As a requirement for graduation, a research project of any of the topics related to the program must be presented. Such a project can be developed based upon real cases.

The educational methodology is oriented towards the stimulation of the students' capacity to learn through lectures as a transfer element of knowledge and technology, and through the graduation project to stimulate teamwork, analysis capabilities and study of cases related to the aeronautic industry in any of its modes and applications.

Graduation Project

Has a value of 30% of the average grades of the course. It is estimated that the students will develop a research project within teams, in order to develop specific topics approved by the direction of the Certificate in the following areas:

A minimum of 15 students is required to open the Minor Course.

Duration of the Course

The Certificate will last three months, plus an additional period of Two months for the research project.

The schedule will be from 6:30pm to 9:30pm Thursdays and Fridays, and from 8:00am to 12:00m on Saturdays, to help students that have to work during the day or travel from monday to wednesday.

Aerocentro will manage academic coordination.

Classrooms

The classes of the program will be held at the classrooms and the auditorium of the CEA at Eldorado International Airport in Bogotá.

Assistance

A minimum of 85% assistance to classes and conferences must be reached in order to obtain the certificate

Certificate

Aerocentro de Colombia and Centro de Estudios Aeronáuticos provide a Diploma as a recognition of the fulfillment of the academic requirements established, to all those who finish the course satisfactorily.
